All consignments will be considered.

Trade-ins are also welcome. We usually give two-thirds (or sometimes more) of the original price back on trade-in instruments and bows purchased here if they are in the same condition as when we sold them, barring normal usage. If you have an instrument or bow that was not originally sold to you by us, we will also be happy to consider it for trade-in.

Bows for Violin

Claude THOMASSIN a Paris c.1920 Paris. This is a professional bow  made of round orange-brown pernambuco wood. The ebony frog is silver mounted with pearl eyes.  The ebony endbutton has two silver rings.   The finger grip is leather with silver winding.  The bow is branded with the maker's usual brand: "C.Thomassin A Paris".  The bow weighs 61.5 grams. $12500

A fine classic French pernambuco violin bow made by Louis Bazin for Leon Bernardel of Paris (a respected violin maker and dealer).  It is mounted in fine silver with an ebony frog.  The bow draws and exceptionally fine sound from violins, and plays all types of bowing with ease.   Very fine condition.   The weight is 61 grams. $6500 US

Excellent English violin bow by W.E. Hill and Sons.  This fine bow was made by Sidney B. Yeoman about 1910 at Hill and Sons in London England, and is in virtually mint condition.  It has a silver-mounted tortoiseshell frog and silver tip and is of the highest quality.  It weighs 60.5 grams. $8000

Charles Nicolas Bazin  made this bow (and others) for Joseph Hel of Lille, France (a respected violin maker and dealer from 1865 to 1902).  It is a fine classic French pernambuco violin bow made  and branded "J.Hel" on each side of the shaft.     The bow is nickel-silver mounted and weighs 58.5 grams.  The round shaft has both strength and flexibility and draws a fine tone. $6000 US
